Cardiomyocyte derived from human iPS

Our laboratory is generating human iPS cells (hiPSCs) from patients with Hipertrophic Cardiomyopathy to study the “disease in a dish”. hiPSCs were reprogrammed by STEMCCA polycistronic lentivirus using a xeno-free method and differentiated in cardiomyocytes through a small molecules protocol modified from Lian et al., 2012’s work (Nature Protocols). Using both protocols we successfully generated human cardiomyocytes. The study is currently in development with the characterization of mithocondria and contractility phenotypes.
