This Symposium is organized every two years and is a unique opportunity to bring together researchers and technologists working in the field of glass and related materials, not only in Brazil, but all over the world, to present their most recent research work, to share ideas and experiences, and to catalyze the interaction of Brazilian scientists, technologists and students with renowned international experts. The strategy consists in providing a relaxed atmosphere in a comfortable venue to facilitate contact among participants, thus promoting the exchange of information and fostering future research collaboration.
In the last years, Brazil hosted some of the most important international congresses on glass: the XII International Conference on the Physics of Non-Crystalline Solids & the 9th International Symposium on Crystallization in Glasses and Liquids, in Foz do Iguaçu, PR, in 2009, and the International Congress on Glass, in Salvador, BA, in 2010. The organization of these conferences by the local glass community enhanced collaboration networks with many leading centers of glass research and technology in the world.
